Bonnie wants to do a 70.3 Ironman next year. She heard good things about 70.3 Augusta so she asked if she could do the race and if I would go with her. I said I would go with her and compete in the race with her. Dear lord next year is going to hurt! Two half 70.3 races in one year. I think there is something wrong with the water in our house. We have gone nuts.
LOL! I think crazy is a side effect of being a triathlete =P Even with a sprint, it's hard not to feel invincible when you do 3 sports on a Saturday morning before most people are awake :)
ReplyDeleteI've done a few sprints, but I suck at swimming so after my last in June I broke up with triathlon; it just wasnt fair to running =P I wrote a "Dear John" letter and everything lol. I may have a fling with a super sprint Tri next year, who knows, but running is my true love :)
In case you are bored http://kitzzyfit.blogspot.com/2010/06/triathlon-we-need-to-talk-aka-race.html
I think this was the Tri where Bonnie and maybe you too did your first.
I think that is great! No reason why you won't be able to handle it. Good luck, you can look forward to an amazing year!
ReplyDelete@Kitzy - That is a funny post. That was not an easy sprint and you sounded a little unprepared. You will have another date with Mr Triathlon. Maybe you just need a longer race. They are not as fast paced and hectic.

Make a plan, work the plan, rock the race. Done. Easy stuff.
ReplyDeleteNice one!! Funny what we talk ourselves into in the off season, right?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's a hard sprint, but I do enjoy the race. You are right, I was not as prepared, but my fear of a longer race is that my swimming just really really sucks. I think I have a better chance at an olympic duathlon. I did a sprint du once and it was hard, but fun, and I can train much easier for that.
ReplyDelete@Kitzzy: EVERY triathlete you talk to says their swimming sucks so you will fit in nicely. How about doing a 70.3 with Bonnie and I?
ReplyDelete@Caratunk Girl: We live in Florida. There is no off season. Only a few weeks back I did a triathlon in Miami and it was in the 80s. Everywhere else in the states had snow.
@Tri Jame: No no!! No one said I needed a plan. I'm screwed!! DOH!!

Yeah, I guess that is true, but I am really bad and don't enjoy it that much. It truly is just about survival for me and not drowning lol My first and only duathlon was hard, but I also picked a Buttar race with a crappy course in the middle of June that had no shade. I want to do it again now that my running is stronger. There just aren't that many around :-/
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Woohoo!! Good for you! :)
ReplyDeleteawesome! Didn't know they had one there!
ReplyDeleteoooooh how exciting indeed!!!! Oh and thanks for the book suggestion!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the water at my house has a problem too. :) Way to go! I bet you kick a$$!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You'll rock that race, I'm sure. Know the feeling, though, since I just registered for a 78K ultramarathon...with a 7317 ft elevation...in about 8 months. THAT one is going to hurt...big time!
ReplyDeletehehe, nice. i've been tempted, but first i'll tackle an oly :) someday!
ReplyDeleteNaw... you'll be fine! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog. Hey - saw that you are doing the Tour de Cure. My husband is a Type 1 and is on Team Type 1. I'm sure there will be some riders from his team there in the spring. Best of luck with the ride and fundraising. You aren't a diabetic are you?
Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteKevin,
ReplyDeleteGood job at Miami Man, and have fun at the Augusta 70.3 in 2011.
Sean did the inaugural Augusta 70.3 in 2009, great event, well organized and a downhill swim to boot!
Rock the TriTats in Augusta.
