Rooom...Rooom!! |
Look what I got in my bag of Cheerios at work. It reminds me of when I was a kid. You either got a racecar or a rubber Wacky Wall Walker purple octopus (my personal favorite). The racecar even came with stickers, which I put on all by myself. Just proving I am a big boy now. It now sits on my desk at work.
I remember my sister beaming me with these when I was a kid. |
- I do not remember the cereal boxes ever toys for the female demographic. Only cars, wacky wall walkers, super balls, etc. Do you remember any? If so, what were they?
- What toys do you remember getting in the cereal boxes? What were your favorates?
- What was your favorate cereal (my was Captain Crunch)?
BTW - According to Wikipedia in the 1980's over 240 million Wacky Wall Walkers had been sold, raking in about 80 million dollars. God, why could I have not thought of that idea.
My Questions For You. I double dog dare you to answer them.
1. I have to agree with you. The toys were always slightly unisex or completely male-driven.
ReplyDelete2. I remember a lot of color changing spoons and toy cars. I actually even saved UPCs once and sent money in to get a car from one box of cereal (don't remember what it was).
3. My favorite cereal today is Multigrain Cheerios. Back when I was a kid it was probably Reese's PB Puffs, Frosted Flakes, or Cocoa Krispies.
firstly... nice job on the stickers... you have talent.
ReplyDeleteI have an older sister so I seldom got anything out of the cereal box except maybe temp tatoos... and I too loved Capitain Crunch
found your blog because i'm searching for new tri blogs to follow! and i have to say, i think the wacky wall walker was a girl toy, too!! i had a blast with those things! i loved peanut butter captain crunch, life (drowned in added sugar!), and lucky charms (always saved the marshmellows for last!).
ReplyDelete1. Can't recall any. Guess that was a sign of the times.
ReplyDelete2. I remember getting things like temporary tattoos.
3. Back then my favorites were Frosted Flakes and Honeycomb. Now it's Raisin Bran Crunch.
I seem to recall collecting small plastic jungle-type animals (leopards, zebras, etc.) but cannot remember the cereal. I am sure there were huge fights in our house over these treasures. I also remember Cracker Jack prizes, they were the best!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason this is my favorate post. I love hearing the people's options about when they were a kid. Thank you all for the comments.

I would sell my soul to own a Wacky Wall Walker right about now.
ReplyDeleteMy lil' bro and I were only allowed to throw them onto the fridge because they left big greasy smears on the actual wall.
Gross!
I think you should do a Wacky Wall Wallker giveaway, by the way.
ReplyDelete@Laurie - I think a Wacky Wall Walker giveaway would be totally rad!
