Throwback Thursday - Christmas Present

God, please let it be a cooler pair of pants!!
Seriously orange pants ?!
I look like a clown.

I don't know what it is but it makes a lot of noise and I loved it.

I got my foot up on a box and I am jamming with my noise maker thingy.
Remember when TVs where that big and had wood trim and VHF & UHF dials?

Okay, if you are the first one to tell me what the heck this instrument/toy is called I will give them a prize.  I do not remember and I am racking my brain trying to figure it out.  Please include a link with the answer. (You must be in the US or Canada to participate).

The first two pictures were taken on Christmas day quite a while ago.  Apparently this was my favorite gift that year.  I'm sure I took great pleasure in playing it as loud as I possibly could to tick my sister off.

Do you remember a favorite gift that you received growing up?  What was it and why was it special?

  3. @EMX - Thanks for the compliment. I know I loved that toy. I doubt I was any good at it but I beat I was awesome at using it to annoy my sister.

@Christi - I do not think so. I think it had a different name. Do you have a link with a picture that calls it that?

  4. I came from that era, so you'd think I could come up with an answer. However, also being from that era means that my memory is terrible these days, so I am useless! I look forward to hearing what it is.

  5. Great tv! I remember ours was in an extra long wood encasement with a record player on the top and it must have had speakers on the side to make it so long. I distinctly remember the smell the day it died.

I loved the year I got a little sewing machine that really worked. I also got a little iron and ironing board that really worked. Now that I look back on it, it seems as though my parents were running some kind of sweatshop at our house ;-)

  6. Cute pants! What the heck that instrument is called...no idea whatsoever. Ukelele? (kidding, I know that that's not a ukelele)

Best present: an outfit for my Barbie Doll when I was 6 years old. I was so into the outfit that I didn't even pay attention to the expensive globe my grandparent's were trying to give me. Why I was still in their will...is beyond me.

  7. @MissZippy - don't worry my memory is going fast also.

@Julie - I remember we had that TV FOREVER until god was nice in the late 80 to strike it with lighting. Then we got a TV that had a remote. Fancy stuff. We also had one with a record player in it. A working ironing board and a sewing machine. Sounds like a sweatshop to me. Depending on you age it sounds dangerous. I would have burnt down the house or sewn my fingers together.

@Silly Girl: Ukelele?! Not even close. Why were you so fancied by the Barbi outfit? I can see why you did not like a globe.

  12. With the power of google it's the Magical Musical Thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywz7vN0GF_Y

This toy looks like it was invented to annoy the hell out of parents. If anyone were to give my 3 year old one now I'd probably beat them with it!
